City Mayor’s Road Race.

Team Rome Velo was well represented this weekend at the Dalton Grand Prix, presented by Bear Creek Bicycles and Spincycle Sports.

Once again, the women’s team dominated the event with an outstanding effort. In Saturday’s time trial, Locklear, Ahearn and Noyes took positions 2, 3, 4. In Sunday’s road race, Locklear and Ahearn worked as a team to push the pace on the open road. A small group rounded the last corner together and the final sprint put both women on the podium again. Locklear took first and Ahearn took third place.

This was Ahearn’s first open road team event and a stellar result. Locklear has now found herself on the podium in every event of the 2012.

The men’s team put in a hard effort in all events but struggled to finish at the top of the leader board this weekend.
